Changing
the architectural face of Hyderabad
Here
is someone who dreams of castles in air and builds them
on earth - Rajeev Reddy, Chairman and Managing
Director of the 50-crore Amrutha group. With a
passion for innovations and an innate fascination for
the construction industry, Rajeev Reddy embarked on his
career at the young age of 21.
In 1981 he borrowed Rs. 4 lakhs from relatives and started
the Amrutha Estates, named after his mother Amrutha
Reddy. The first project that he undertook was the
construction of Ashiana, an apartment complex comprising
of 20 deluxe flats. A string of successful construction
projects followed. In 1988, he acquired the Vilayat
Manzil, the palace of Nawab Wali-u-Dowla and
started the Country Club in Hyderabad. Country
Club International in Medchal and the Country
Club in Bangalore followed. Today, he has plans to
set up a Country Club in every city of India.
A
number of residential complexes and commercial units began
to adorn the Hyderabadi cityscape. The uniqueness of the
Amrutha buildings [Amrutha Hills, Amrutha Mall and the
Amrutha de Casa (a golf village)] is the amazing style
of their architecture inspired by the European style of
architecture. A product of Amrutha group of builders,
Amrutha Castle is a hotel designed to look like a medieval
dream castle. Today it is one key landmarks of Hyderabad,
catching the attention of all and sundry.
Rajeev
Reddy's own house The Chateau is the testimonial
of his ingenious work. With imposing outer walls, a moat,
turrets, roof top gardens - the house stands in stark
contrast to the other concrete structures and traditional
Hyderabadi houses around. From a turnover of Rs. 4 lakhs
to 50 crore in 20 years, Rajeev Reddy has truly grown
to become one of the youngest corporate tycoons or rather
corporate Czar of India.
